The project was in partnership with the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation to execute pavement upgrading works in Miss Lou Square, formerly known as Gordon Town Square. The statue of Miss Lou was erected and was unveiled on her birthday on Friday, September 7, 2018.
The Honourable Louise Bennett-Coverley is a cultural icon and a statue dedicated to the celebration of her life’s work and positive impact she has made on Jamaica and, by extension, world culture; however, the erected statue now has the potential to be a beloved sightseeing attraction in the Kingston and St. Andrew region.
