The Jamaica Centre for Tourism Innovation (JCTI) a Division of the Tourism Enhancement Fund is tasked with implementing the Human Capital Development Strategy set out by the Ministry of Tourism.
The development of human capital is critical to meet the labour force required to maintain and enhance the competitiveness of Jamaica’s tourism sector. Big countries benefit from linkages but small countries must deal with leakage. To stem the leakage, the development of human capital must provide graduates with more than just academic skills, it must provide them with experience and certification. Further it must show practically how tourism can bring Jamaicans into the tourism supply chain. This is what is needed if Jamaica is to remain competitive as a hotel and cruise destination, as a place for unique culinary and spa experiences and as the ultimate meeting and events destination.
