The Ministry of Tourism wants to help you get your next job. Register to get two types of certification, FREE OF COST, that will help you get a job in tourism.

The tourism sector has been hampered by the impact of the Coronavirus.  Though everyone believes that there are persons seeking jobs, the sector still struggles.  Many persons seeking employment in the sector go to job fairs, but many candidates show up and are not chosen.  Often candidates are not chosen because they lack job readiness skills.

Facilitated by the Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation (JCTI) a Division of the Tourism Enhancement Fund, in collaboration with our local and international partners, we are collaborating to help.

Job Readiness Certificate Programme

PLUS

 Guest Service Gold Tourism or ServSafe Food Handler

HEART NSTA Trust has developed a Job Readiness programme specifically for new entrants to the tourism sector.  Successful candidates will receive an NCTVET Certificate.

The training is aimed at providing candidates the employability skills needed to enter the industry.  The programme will include the following units:

  • Develop and update hospitality industry knowledge
  • Provide effective hospitality service to customers
  • Work with colleagues and customers
  • Develop and maintain professionalism
  • Operate in a culturally diverse work environment
  • Comply with health, safety and security procedures
  • Deliver quality customer service

This customer service gold certification provides hospitality professionals with the confidence to engage and connect with guests to find out their needs and provide memorable service. The programme is designed to motivate and inspire hotel employees.

This course is offered by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). Successful candidates will earn an internationally recognized certificate.

ServSafe Food Handler is considered to be the best food safety training programme in the food service industry. It is designed for people working in restaurants, hotels, and other food and beverage businesses worldwide.

ServSafe Food Handler  is offered through the National Restaurant Association (NRA). Successful candidates will earn an internationally recognized certificate.

Finally, the JCTI will host a Job Fair at the end of each cycle to introduce successful candidates to new employers.

The courses are available to job seekers FREE OF COST
